Moxibustion Therapy Hawkesbury retreat
At our Moxibustion Therapy Hawkesbury retreat we have studied moxibustion or Moxa because it has been used for thousands of years to increase energy and strengthen the body. Moxibustion therapy is excellent for stimulating circulation of energy (qi) and blood. Moxibustion therapy is helpful in treating chronic weakened conditions where the energy channels have been obstructed by cold and damp conditions.
Conditions treated at our Moxibustion Therapy Hawkesbury retreat are;
Diarrhoea, constipation, colds & flu, abdominal problems, menstrual pain, frozen shoulder and any muscle and/or joint pain. At our Moxibustion therapy Hawkesbury retreat we use moxibustion to help in speeding up the recovery of injured joints and muscles. Moxibustion therapy is often indicated where acupuncture and massage have not been effective. At our Moxibustion therapy Hawkesbury retreat we understand that moxibustion should only be used for cold conditions. We use the Oriental diagnosis process to determine the best treatment protocol.
Examples where Moxibustion Therapy or moxa would be beneficial;
Knee pain that was brought on by running in cold wet conditions, neck or shoulder pain after sitting in a drafty area for too long, lower back pain that is improved with movement, menstrual pain that is improved with a hot water bottle, abdominal pain with loose stools that is worse after a cold drink or food, bloating in the abdominal area.
Moxa is very effective for treating people who live or work in cold and wet climates. From a traditional Chinese Medicine stand point it is very useful for tonifying Ki and Yang Deficiency. It is used to help with stagnation, cold and damp conditions.
What to expect at our Moxibustion Therapy Hawkesbury retreat;
Moxibustion therapy uses a dried herb called mugwort, it has a very slow burning time and is quite odorous. Moxibustion comes in many forms, it can be loose and rolled up manually into cones and placed on the skin, (direct moxa). Moxibustion can be in the form of a stick and held over the area being treated (indirect moxa). Moxibustion therapy can be placed in a box over the skin. Moxa can be used in conjunction with ginger and garlic. Moxa can be placed on top of needles in acupuncture and dry needling. Moxa cones are also burnt over the navel on salt.
At our moxibustion Therapy Hawkesbury retreat a treatment can last from 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the condition being treated.
