I woke up with a terrible headache yesterday, feeling frustrated that I could wake after sleeping with a headache I reached for the needles and cups.
Yes I did dry needling directly on the pain, in temporalis muscle at the temples
and cupping on my trapezius on gallbladder 21.
I placed one needle in my temple for about 30 minutes directly on the pain until I could feel the de qi, a term used in Shiatsu and acupuncture meaning to feel the energy. I used one dry cup on my shoulder where there was some stagnation, stuck energy to be released. I left the cup on for about 40 minutes.
I’m happy to say that the sharp pain that I felt was gone immediately and the dull ache around my shoulders and neck disappeared after treatment.
Please do not stick needles in yourself unless you are trained to do so. I’m a certified dry needling practitioner and diploma qualified in shiatsu and oriental therapies.
